  • Ahmed Tijjani Uwais   |   Principal Partner

    Ahmed T. Uwais specializes in corporate and commercial law and he is the principal at Ahmed Uwais and Co. Ahmed graduated from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria in 1994 where he obtained an LL.B Hons. He then proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island Lagos to obtain his B.L and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1995.

     

    Prior to his current position he was a Managing Partner at the Wali, Uwais and Co law firm and an associate at Abdullahi Ibrahim and Co. respectively. He was actively involved in corporate and commercial litigation, and advised various clients on international commercial transactions.

     

    Ahmed has also acted as a Consultant to the House Committee on Anti-Corruption, National Ethics and Values of the National Assembly Nigeria.

     

    He has also advised the Bureau of Public Enterprises on the privatization of the Eleme Petrochemical Company (value $220 million). Another comapny Ahmed offered his advisory services to was the RoseHill Group Ltd on the matter of the privatization and subsequent purchase of Sedco Forex of Nigeria Ltd (an oil servicing company privatized by the Bureau of Public Enterprises and valued at $1 million).

     

    He has been involved in the First Bank Rights Issue of 508,113,411 ordinary shares (Co Solicitor to the Offer), Wema Bank Public Offer of 5 Billion shares (Solicitor to the Issue), Public Offer for subscription of 90,000,000 shares and Rights Issue of 35,000,000 ordinary shares of the Nigerian Aviation Holding Company NAHCO (Solicitor to the Offer). Represented Springboard Trust and Investment Limited in the Incorporation, Due Diligence, Negotiations, acquisition and registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Capitalization of the Company to N1.5 billion

     

    Ahmed has represented the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in various litigations including those against a serving state governor and another in respect of the forfeiture of assets (shares) of a commercial bank (valued at N1 billion). He represented anohter bank in the recovery of N850 million.

     

    He has reviewed laws to Federal and State governments and advised a State Government in a Boundary Dispute Matter before the Supreme Court of Nigeria to determine the extent of the interstate boundary between two states in Nigeria.

     

    Ahmed advised the Local Organising Committee and a private company on the Nigeria '99 (Junior World Cup) - i.e., Private Public Partnership.

     

    He represented Dangote Group at the Securities Tribunal (value N762 million) in respect of its shareholding in Benue Cement Company Plc.

     

    He advised a Kano based Textile Company and a Chinese Textile Group in setting up a Joint Venture (value $3.5 million).

     

    He successfully represented the Education Tax Fund at the National Assembly in respect of an alleged missing N40 billion by the management of the Education Tax Fund.

     

    Representation in Arbitration between a Dredging company and OMPADEC is yet another achievement by Ahmed Uwais.

     

    Ahmed has spoken and written extensively on issues of corporate, capital market and business development. He is a director of a number of private companies and a member of the Muhammad Lawal Uwais Jurisprudence Centre.

     

    Ahmed is also a Notary Public of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and currently a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, Capital Market Solicitors and Associates, as well as the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria).

    Abdul attended the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State where he obtained an LL.B (Hons) in 2000. He was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2003.

  • Odiri Endurance Edje   |   Associate

    Odiri Endurance Edje, Esq. is a junior legal Counsel II in Ahmed Uwais & Co. He specialize in General Litigation, Corporate and Commercial Legal Practice. He graduated from Delta State University Abraka (Oleh Campus) in 2013 where he obtained an LL.B Hons. From there, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School Agba-ani Enugu Campus where he obtained my BL and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in November, 2014.

     

    After my admission to the Nigerian Bar, he commenced the compulsory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Service year. His place of primary assignment was Arthur Obi Okafor San & Associates, a private law firm where he was actively involved in legal practice in areas as stated above.
